Skills Development Project (SDP) is implemented by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. SDP is jointly funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Government of Bangladesh (GoB).
The primary objective of the project is to support the Government's poverty reduction strategy by enhancing the capacity of the TVET system to provide demand-driven and good quality technical education and training particularly to the poor and the marginalized. The project supports the establishment of partnerships with industry; development of competency and training standards; development of curricula, teacher guides, learning materials and assessment tools; and capacity development in external competency assessment.
Project is continuing its support to focus on improvement of the quality and relevance of TVET by improving its policy, providing institutional and organizational strengthening, ensuring gender balance, and building capacity. The project assists in providing in-service training to government and non-government TVET teachers. Project's support include revitalizing TVET teachers training institutions; strengthening public TVET institutions; strengthening the capacity for short training programs in public and private training institutions; strengthening the capacity of the DTE for planning, research, and social marketing; and strengthening certification system of Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).
